Reds Super Rugby

The rugby union squad representing the Australian state of Queensland in the Southern Hemisphere's Super Rugby competition is known  Reds Rugby   as the Queensland Reds. They were a representative squad chosen from Queensland's rugby union club competitions prior to 1996. They switched from selecting players based on club form to a mechanism where players are committed to the Reds through the Queensland Rugby Union with the advent of the professional Super 12 competition. They participated in the Super 12 league from 1996 to 2005 as one of three Australian sides, the other two being the ACT Brumbies and the New South Wales Waratahs.
